Gulf Islands Ferry Service Opening Date Is Reset to Begin January 12th

Great news is on the horizon as the Gulf Islands Ferry Service, connecting Bradenton and Anna Maria Island, is gearing up for its long-awaited launch. After months of hard work and anticipation, we’re excited to announce that the ferry service is now just…one…more….step away from becoming a reality.

You might remember the maiden launch event that happened on Monday, November 20th, with city officials, local media, and VIPs in attendance. It was a momentous occasion as the boats set off from Bradenton Riverwalk on a 35-minute journey to the Anna Maria City Pier, right outside The Waterfront Restaurant.

The dedication and effort of everyone involved are paying off, and we’re getting closer to enjoying the convenience and beauty of this new transportation option.

Originally scheduled to open to the public on December 8th, there have been some updates to ensure a smooth and reliable operation. The Gulf Islands Ferry Service will now officially start on January 12th, as long as the weather cooperates. This decision prioritizes safety and a hassle-free experience for passengers.

Operating on Fridays through Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., this service offers a convenient way for visitors and mainland locals to explore the region. It will initially connect downtown Bradenton, the AMI City Pier, and the Bridge Street Pier, providing easy access to some of the area’s favorite spots.

We’re thrilled to share that The Waterfront Restaurant is proud to be an official water taxi ferry stop. With stunning views of the AMI City Pier from our deck, we’re eagerly looking forward to welcoming the first passengers for lunch and dinner. As we approach the January 12th launch, the excitement is building.
