Erica Kennington and Mark Adkins will be celebrating their nuptials in the garden courtyard with a gourmet dinner.
Tourist season is over. The Fourth of July is behind us. After spending months complaining about the overabundance of traffic, now it feels like we’re watching tumbleweeds drift down the street. But we know of just the thing to snap you out of your summer doldrums: it’s the Summer Chef Jam at The Shamrock Pub in Sarasota. Image source: ThisWeekInSarasota.com Though the Shamrock Pub seems small and unassuming, it has one of the best local craft beer selections in Sarasota. And they know how to throw a party: their big-screen TV can always be counted on to be playing niche sporting events like The World Cup. But best of all, this summer they’re bringing their charm and authenticity to the table while local chefs deliver tasty treats at the return of the Summer Chef Jam. This hip weekly event offers locals a chance to try small plates from a variety of amazing local restaurants as well as bottomless pints of select craft brews for just $20 a person. The Shamrock (along with partners Edible Sarasota, Swamp Head Brewery, Ri Quisimo Food Truck, and Chefs Choice USA) is welcoming chefs from some of our favorite Sarasota restaurants every Monday night. Already this summer, chefs from Libby’s Café + Bar, Mattison’s 41, Duval’s New World Café, Louie’s Modern, and Michael’s On East have showcased some super tasty small plates. On Monday, July 21st there won’t be an event, but then it will finish strong with chefs from Indigenous, Café Americano, Darwin’s on 4th, and Jack Dusty showcasing their culinary skills and pairing their dishes with local craft beers. Summer Chef Jam takes place every Monday night from 8pm to 10pm at the Shamrock (located at 2257 Ringling Boulevard in Sarasota). Check out the Facebook events page for menu details and updates on upcoming events.
The weather is cooperating so this Thursday we will taste 6 new wines of Spain, 2 whites and 4 reds. All of the wines are from Vinecraft Wines who are a new portfolio to us, so we have never seen these before. We will have a real nice garnacha and a couple of different styles of tempranillos to try along with two interesting whites. The kitchen will supply the tapas, so join us for one of our last tastings of the year, 5:30, this Thursday, in the courtyard.
Our weekly wine tasting combined with a fantastic costume party. Prizes are awarded for the best and most original costumes and the chef creates some definitely different appetizers. One of our favorite days each year, the costumes keep getting better than ever.
We are happy to have Nicole and Ramsay of Johnson Brothers Distributing sampling Wines of Spain. We will be enjoying an Albarino, dry rose of grenache, and four reds, a gsm blend, a Tempranillo, and two garnachas, one a vinas viejas (old vine) that has very concentrated flavors and is almost purple. Our chefs are whipping up some great tapas and we even have a flamenco guitarist on hand for the occasion. Hope you can make it.
