With the onset of our Christmas rush we will not have a wine tasting this week or Christmas week so that we may use the heated courtyard for our dining guests. We will have a few more tastings after the new year weather permitting. Thank you for your patronage.
The Waterfront’s annual costume party is always a blast. Each year dozens of the best costumes we’ve ever seen show up on people of all ages. Prizes for best costume, most original, and much more. Check out some of the previous years costumes in our photo gallery. We look forward to adding you to this years pictures!
This week we will have Michael Helmer, M.S. of Vinecraft Distributors on hand to taste us on some of his Italian portfolio. We will start off with a toast of Prosecco followed by two great whites and three reds, paired with some of our chefs’ creative hors-d’oeuvres.
Last November, we wrote about the intersection of art and sustainability when we covered a unique collaboration between artist Craig Colorusso and Fuzion Dance Artists. We fell in love with the inventive contemporary dance company and have followed them ever since. Last week, their eighth annual concert (entitled Dance Couture) received overwhelmingly positive reviews and showcased the company’s diversity and fearless spirit. They have a strong history of supporting artists and doing community outreach. Each year the company features an ever-increasing number of collaborative performances with artist of various genres. They also have a strong commitment to education. Thanks to partnerships with local art and community organizations, Fuzion has been able to offer school performances, master classes, and weekly dance classes all year round since 2007, reaching over 1,800 local students. On Sunday, March 30th at 2pm they will be performing at the Dance for Selah Freedom fundraiser at Sashay Ballroom. The event, which will be hosted by the Lakewood Ranch Partnership is intended to raise money and awareness on behalf of Selah Freedom. Selah Freedom’s mission is to bring awareness to the terrible crime of human trafficking. This form of modern-day slavery is one of the largest crime industries in the country, and it’s incredibly prevalent right here in Manatee County. Funds raised at this event will go to helping Selah Freedom provide a safe place for victims of trafficking to recuperate and reclaim their lives. Tickets for the event are $50, and all proceeds will go directly to Selah Freedom. Tickets can be purchased at the Selah Freedom website, where you can also learn more about their important work.
